The UK arm of the German manufacturing giant Siemens may be forced to move domestic research collaborations to Europe if the country loses access to the European Union’s Horizon programme, its chief executive has said.
Jürgen Maier said that one of the company’s “bigger concerns” about the possibility of a no-deal Brexit was the impact on its partnerships with UK universities.
“This is going to get harder because if you look at some of the research collaborations we have in the UK, they are very often in collaboration with European universities—and they are drawing money from Horizon 2020 funds,” he told Research Professional News.
