Conservative manifesto writer says universities should revive adult education in line with Tory policies

UK universities should shift their focus towards adult education and vocational courses if they are to remain financially sustainable in the future, a former government adviser has argued.

Rachel Wolf, a higher education policy adviser to Boris Johnson during his time as shadow universities minister, is among those who will be producing the next Conservative Party manifesto. Writing for Research Professional News as the party gathers in Manchester for its annual conference, she warned that “political and financial pressures will once again come to the fore” for higher education as the country prepares for a general election.
