Just 19 of 140 new MPs are trained in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or medicine

The percentage of new MPs with a background in science, 14 per cent, is lower than the overall proportion of all MPs with such a background, at 16 per cent.

The Campaign for Science and Engineering found that 19 of the 140 MPs sitting in the House of Commons for the first time after last year’s election have a background in STEMM—science, technology, engineering, mathematics or medicine.
