Conservative Party Conference 2020: Innovation minister says coronavirus forced scientists to make ‘dramatic leaps ahead’

The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the appetite for much-needed risk-taking within the life sciences industry, innovation minister James Bethell has said.

“What we have seen in the last six months was a huge number of people—particularly in the NHS, but also in the private and university sector—felt like they had a licence to take risks in a way they didn’t previously,” Bethell (pictured) told a Conservative Party fringe event on the future of innovation on 5 October.
