Agency will be more successful if it can stimulate cross-departmental investment, Mariana Mazzucato tells MPs

The UK government’s proposed funding agency modelled on the US Advanced Research Projects Agency might be best located within the Cabinet Office, a leading economist has suggested.

Speaking at a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee hearing about the £800 million funder on 7 October, Mariana Mazzucato (pictured), said an agency focused on broad challenges would be “much more successful” if it was able to stimulate cross-departmental and cross-sectoral innovation and investment.
