Minister fielded questions on UK Arpa, Horizon Europe and the ‘levelling up’ agenda

Alok Sharma fielded his first round of questions in parliament as business secretary on 3 March, on issues including the UK version of the Advanced Research Projects Agency, association with EU’s forthcoming R&D scheme Horizon Europe and the government’s ‘levelling up’ agenda.

Responding to a question from Conservative York MP Julian Sturdy on the regional distribution of promised increased R&D spending, Sharma said: “I absolutely agree that as part of our levelling-up agenda we want to support centres of excellence from across the country.”
