Budget raises questions over funds for regional R&D

Government commitment to fair geographical spread of R&D and its Shared Prosperity Fund under question

A government commitment to distributing research-related funding more fairly across the UK has been called into question following the 11 March budget.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak described his “plan to invest in R&D and cutting-edge technologies” as one that would provide “support for people in every nation and region of the UK to gain the skills they will need as the economy evolves”.
