UK pulls out of global science body on non-proliferation

Experts warn the country’s scientists and engineers will miss out, as will its geopolitical interests

The government’s decision to pull out of the International Science and Technology Centre, a body established to help prevent the rise of weapons of mass destruction, has been condemned by experts.

The ISTC was established in 1992 as a part of a wider non-proliferation drive to provide non-military research opportunities for weapons scientists and engineers in the former Soviet Union.
