UK government estimates the plan will support more than 100,000 jobs
The UK government’s plans for a £3 billion “green jobs” investment package have been welcomed by researchers and industry. Full details of the package are set to be announced by chancellor Rishi Sunak in his summer statement on 8 July.
According to media reports, it is expected to include £2bn for measures including grants for households to cover two-thirds of the costs of insulation and double-glazing of windows. The other £1bn will be spent on decarbonising public sector buildings. The government estimates the plan will support more than 100,000 jobs.
