This autumn’s spending review is crunch time for government’s pledge of extra billions for R&D
Many hopes are pinned on this autumn’s spending review—not least those of the UK’s research sector. And with good reason.
In his debut budget in March, chancellor Rishi Sunak (pictured) pledged to increase research and development spending to
£22 billion a year by 2024-25, which he described as “the fastest and largest increase in R&D spending ever”.
