Lib Dems to debate overhaul of science advice

Proposed motion at party conference also calls for support for scientific publishers

The Liberal Democrat party conference is to debate a motion calling for reforms to government scientific advice, as part of a push for more public oversight of policymaking.

A proposed motion to be discussed later today at the online meeting would commit the party to pushing for more independence of scientific advisors and government statisticians.
