BEIS R&D budget sparks fears over long-term targets

       

Government must make sure UKRI cuts are “bump in road rather than change in direction”

Policy experts have raised concerns about the UK government’s long-term R&D ambitions after the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy published long-awaited allocations for the financial year.

A total of £7,908m of BEIS’ £11.35bn R&D budget was allocated to the national research agency UK Research and Innovation—a drop of £539m compared with the previous year.
