Drop includes cuts to aid-funded research and a reduction in science infrastructure capital spending
The UK’s national research funder UK Research and Innovation has seen its budget allocation plummet by around half a billion pounds amid unprecedented cuts to aid-funded research.
According to long-awaited R&D allocations published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) on 27 May, UKRI has been allocated a total of £7,908 million for the 2021-22 financial year.
