Brexit referendum five years on: impacts on R&D and education

From immigration and student exchange to research funding and data transfer, uncertainties remain

It is five years since the Brexit referendum fundamentally reshaped British and European politics and created all manner of uncertainties for R&D and higher education.

The referendum on 23 June 2016 paved the way for the UK’s lengthy and messy withdrawal from the European Union, which finally took place on 31 January last year.
