Appreciation of Boris Johnson’s science focus offset by worries about lack of detail

The academic community has greeted the prime minister’s latest announcement on science with a mix of hope and fear, calling for more detail on how two new high-level bodies will affect UK research.

On 21 June, Boris Johnson announced the creation of a ministerial council on R&D and an Office for Science and Technology Strategy in the Cabinet Office.
