Paul Nurse to lead work looking at “strengths and weaknesses” of research institutions
Nobel laureate and professor Paul Nurse is to lead an independent review of the UK’s research landscape for the government, as part of its plans to ensure research institutions “serve the needs of businesses and places across the UK”.
Nurse’s previous deep dive into the UK’s research systems in 2014-15—widely known as ‘the Nurse Review’—led to a huge shake-up that saw the previously independent research councils amalgamated into the funder UK Research and Innovation.
