Council for Science and Technology warns prime minister that current system is “not sustainable”

The government must boost the take-up of technology in healthcare or risk exacerbating problems in the system, an expert advisory group has said.

The UK healthcare system is facing increasing challenges around widening health inequalities, growing demand from an ageing population, siloed structures and workforce shortages exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a letter from the Council for Science and Technology.
