UK’s National Nuclear Laboratory appoints next chair

Hitachi Energy UK chief executive Ian Funnell to replace Andrew Mathews on 26 January

Ian Funnell, chief executive of the technology company Hitachi Energy UK, has been appointed as the next chair of the National Nuclear Laboratory, the UK’s laboratory for nuclear fission R&D.

The chartered engineer will replace Andrew Mathews as NNL chair on 26 January, the government announced. His term will end on 25 January 2025.
