Shadow and former science ministers weigh in on leadership contest following prime minister’s resignation
Shadow science minister Chi Onwurah has called for “focus and stability” after the future of UK R&D was once again plunged into uncertainty following Liz Truss’s resignation as prime minister.
Truss announced her decision to step down on 20 October, saying she recognised she could not “deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party”. A successor is due to be found within a week, following a leadership competition.
