Uncertainty stalks research world as Nusrat Ghani fills long-vacant science minister role

A three-month vacuum left by George Freeman’s resignation as science minister in July has finally been filled with the appointment of Nusrat Ghani.

R&D experts have expressed hope that the new minister can deal with many pressing problems facing the sector, as well as voicing concern about the Conservative Party’s attitude to research under its new leader Liz Truss.
