Experts welcome R&D budget protection, but question details on aid, tax credits and Horizon Europe
Jeremy Hunt’s autumn statement has received a mixed response from the R&D sector, as experts raised concerns over R&D tax credit reform, the freeze on overseas aid spending and the continued lack of clarity on Horizon Europe plans.
On the plus side, Hunt promised to protect the 2021 spending review commitment to increase public R&D budget to £20 billion by 2024-25, despite the current economic crisis.
