Research sector urges Rishi Sunak to recommit to promises he made on research as chancellor

The UK’s new prime minister Rishi Sunak has said he remains committed to the party’s 2019 manifesto, which promised wide-ranging support for R&D, but he also warned of “difficult decisions to come” as a result of the ongoing financial turmoil.

The ex-chancellor became prime minister after Liz Truss announced she would step down after just 44 days as Conservative Party leader and PM.
