Science minister anticipates damage to national fusion work if UK association to EU programme fails

The UK’s science minister George Freeman has told MPs and peers that nuclear research could fall through the cracks of the plan B he will enact if UK association to the EU’s R&D programmes is not secured.

A failure to associate to the Euratom nuclear research and training programme would therefore damage the UK’s nuclear fusion work, he said, as well as wider nuclear fusion research in Europe.
