Media experts seek post-Covid science communication overhaul

   

Independent press office, the Science Media Centre, wants scientific communication separated from political messaging

One of the UK’s most influential science media bodies has called for an overhaul in the way science is communicated following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Established in 2002, the Science Media Centre in London provides background briefings for journalists on current scientific issues and facilitates interviews with scientists. During the pandemic it ran more than 250 press conferences and issued written comments on around 1,800 breaking news developments or new studies on Covid-19.
