Nation maintains strength in impact and international collaboration, but expert warns of coming Brexit downturn

The UK’s share of global research outputs fell moderately between 2016 and 2020 in the face of increasing international competition, according to figures released by the business department today.

But the UK still leads the world in how impactful its research publications are and has the highest level of international collaboration compared with other leading research-intensive countries.
