European neuroscientists want ‘rapid’ UK association to Horizon

Neuroscience organisations join pleas for Commission president to confirm UK participation in EU R&D scheme

Neuroscience organisations have joined those calling on the European Commission to rapidly confirm the UK’s membership of Horizon Europe, as a political crisis in London threatens to derail already stalled progress on the issue.

Their message is the latest in a series of pleas from the research sector to ensure UK researchers can continue to fully participate in EU-funded projects with colleagues on the continent. This has included the launch of the Stick to Science campaign established solely to push for association and letters from increasingly worried senior figures. Concerns have only been fuelled by the political chaos in the UK this week, which saw prime minister Boris Johnson promise to stand down.
