Freeman’s offer to return as science minister ‘declined’

MP confirms his bid to bring sector “ministerial leadership” was rejected

Former science minister George Freeman has revealed that his offer to return to the role has been rejected, following his resignation last week.

Freeman was one of around 50 MPs to quit their government jobs—which ultimately forced prime minister Boris Johnson to go himself—saying his leadership and the collapse of public confidence in the government “represents a constitutional crisis”.
