
Shadow minister and mayor say UK must do better at turning ideas into ‘world-leading companies’
A future Labour government should do more to address the “development” part of R&D—an area where the UK continues to fall short—the party’s annual conference in Liverpool has heard.
Speaking at a fringe event on what a Labour R&D agenda should look like on 25 September, South Yorkshire Labour mayor Oliver Coppard said R&D “absolutely has to be at the forefront of the next Labour government’s plan for growth and for Britain”.
