UK’s new PM wants to deliver on Conservatives’ manifesto; here’s what that means for research

During the leadership campaign, the UK’s new prime minister, Liz Truss, repeatedly said she would go back to the Conservative Party’s 2019 election manifesto and deliver on pledges made there, while claiming she was not someone who broke promises.

“What we need to do now is we need to deliver on the promises we made in 2019 to people across the UK,” she said at a leadership hustings in Belfast on 17 August, for example, adding: “That is what I am determined to do.”
