Labour’s shadow foreign minister wants to fix “reckless choices” and restore UK-EU cooperation in R&D

Shadow foreign secretary David Lammy has called for a “reset” in the UK’s foreign policy to unblock UK participation in the European Union’s R&D programmes and improve “links between our students and universities”.

His comments today come as the UK’s participation in programmes such as the €95.5 billion (£84.7bn) R&D Horizon Europe scheme has been held up for two years because of wider political disagreements between the two sides, leaving UK winners unable to draw on the EU funding awarded to them.
