Shadow ministers look to science for development policy

Labour conference: Party promises refreshed approach but stops short of returning to former spending level

Labour has said it will make science and technology a key part of a refreshed approach to international development, if the party wins the next election.

But shadow ministers stopped short of committing to restoring Official Development Assistance to 0.7 per cent of gross national income, echoing the Conservative Party’s position that this will happen “when the fiscal situation allows”.
