Government reveals plan to boost UK clinical trials

Response to O’Shaughnessy review hails progress made and sets out further steps

The UK government has unveiled its plan to improve clinical trial activity after a review warned that urgent action is needed, saying the country is falling behind internationally.  

In May, former innovation minister James O’Shaughnessy published his review of clinical trials. It said the UK had slipped from fourth to 10th place in the international ranking for the number of commercially led clinical trials.
