UCU set to call on members to resign from UKRI roles

Union will issue a formal call should funder not reverse suspension of its equality panel

The University and College Union has said that UK Research and Innovation must reverse the suspension of its equality and diversity advisory panel by 3 November or it will call on all union members to resign from their voluntary UKRI positions.

In the letter dated 1 November, UCU general secretary Jo Grady (pictured) expressed “anger and disappointment” that UKRI had “capitulated” to “ministerial overreach” in suspending the equality, diversity and inclusion panel pending an inquiry.
