Ex-science minister says Treasury held back Horizon backup plan

Starting Pioneer programme in 2022 would have helped Horizon Europe negotiations, George Freeman says

The Treasury delayed the plan that would have supported UK science if the country had not re-entered the €95.5 billion Horizon Europe programme, a former science minister has said.

If the Pioneer prospectus had been implemented sooner it could have helped in the negotiations with Europe to rejoin, George Freeman told a Foundation for Science and Technology event.
