Study finds participants in Greater Manchester clinical research trials do not reflect diversity of area

Only 6 per cent of the participants in recent health studies in Greater Manchester were from a minority ethnic background, despite the proportion of ethnic minorities in the population there being 16 per cent.

An audit by the University of Manchester published in BMC Medicine journal looked at all the health studies on the clinical research network in the Greater Manchester region between 2016 and 2021.
