Package includes £154 million upgrade to UK Biobank and measures to reverse clinical trials decline
UK chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced a “war chest” for the life sciences sector made up of new and existing funding, alongside a commitment to improve clinical trials.
The funding, which the Treasury said is worth £650 million, includes upgrades for R&D infrastructure and incentives for investment in the UK’s life sciences industry. Worth £94 billion in 2021, the government considers the sector a vital engine for growth.
