Demand for UK quantum workers ‘massively’ outstrips supply

Official says training and talent programmes are “absolute priority” under government’s £2.5 billion quantum strategy

Demand for R&D workers in the UK with quantum skills “massively outstrips the supply”, according to an official from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

Philippa Sharma, deputy director for technology strategy and security at the department, said that developing the UK’s quantum workforce is “a real priority for us” at a conference held by the Westminster eForum on 23 June.
