UK crime R&D centre relocates to Porton Down after merger

             

New facility to bring together law enforcement, policing, counter-terrorism and military research

A specialist Home Office facility has been moved to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory in Porton Down, following a merger between the two R&D-focused government bodies.

The Centre for Applied Science and Technology (Cast)—which develops technological solutions to tackle crime—became part of the executive agency of the Ministry of Defence in 2018, following a review which concluded that the merger would ensure “continued resilience”.
