Science minister Andrew Griffith promises big things as UK marks moon mission role

The UK’s science minister, Andrew Griffith, has promised 2024 will be the “most exciting year” for space science in the country.

Griffith was celebrating the UK’s involvement in developing a key device that was on board the US rocket lifting off into space this morning. The device was launched on 8 January from Florida as part of the mission to land the first US spacecraft on the moon’s surface since Apollo 17 in 1972.
