Rishi Sunak has indicated he will call an election in the autumn

Yesterday, UK prime minister Rishi Sunak damped speculation that he would call a spring election, saying he is working on the assumption the country will go to the polls “in the second half of this year”.

In December, Labour leader Keir Starmer was reported to have told his frontbench to develop their policies for a manifesto to be ready by February, in expectation of a spring election.
