At a glance: UK’s response to red tape review

Key changes planned to reduce bureaucracy in R&D

Last week the government revealed its plans to cut red tape in the UK’s R&D system, in response to a 2022 review of research bureaucracy that identified “huge opportunities” for improvement.

“We’re cutting back the red tape that too often slows down talented researchers—freeing them from long periods buried in piles of paperwork,” said science minister Andrew Griffith.
