Science and tech framework update ‘quiet in crucial areas’

Government has not addressed needs of universities or barriers to attracting talent, says Case analysis

The Campaign for Science and Engineering has renewed its call for the UK government to support a more resilient university research landscape, and to reduce the cost and burden of visa applications to attract top researchers to the UK.

The plea comes after the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology outlined its progress measured against the Science and Technology Framework in 2023-24, and its ambitions going forward, which Case says “remained quiet on a few crucial areas”.
