UK R&D investment reaches ‘record’ £19.4bn in 2023-24

Government claims major progress—and only £0.6 billion short of 2024-25 target

The UK’s science department said it has spent “record” amounts on research and development over the past year, citing £19.4 billion as the latest figure.

If true, it would bring the government within close range of meeting its official R&D spend target of £20bn by 2024-25.
