Rising UK visa costs ‘totally counterproductive’ for science

Campaign for Science and Engineering calls for policy reversals or mitigation measures amid visa changes

Increases to the cost of UK visas and “restrictive” immigration rules are “totally counterproductive” to the government’s ambition of being a science and technology superpower, a leading science advocacy group has said.

Over the past year, the government has increased application fees across all its visa routes, including the ones most commonly used by researchers.
