‘Use it or lose it,’ EU official tells UK applicants to Horizon Europe

Treasury must be convinced of British association to future EU R&I programmes, event hears

A senior official in the European Commission has warned British applicants to the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme “if you don’t use it, you lose it”.

Ruta Zarnauskaite was speaking at a Horizon Europe event held at the University of Birmingham on 13 March, the first of a planned series of “roadshows” to encourage more British applications to the programme.
