Origin of chip components is key to cybersecurity, MPs hear

National Cyber Security Centre looks at boosting transparency of where materials for microchips come from

One of the greatest threats to cybersecurity in the UK is a lack of transparency around where components for computer microchips come from, MPs have heard.

Chip manufacturers could make more informed choices if they knew where they were sourcing materials from, said Richard Grisenthwaite, executive vice-president of the cybersecurity firm Arm.
