Science department’s ODA spending hit new low in 2023

       

Dsit development spending totalled just £167 million, compared with £607m for R&I in 2020

Spending on international development by the UK government’s science department fell to its lowest ebb in recent years in 2023, according to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

On 10 April, the foreign office released provisional data on UK aid spending in 2023, showing that the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology had the largest annual decrease in Official Development Assistance spending across all government departments.
