Two-year delay to life sciences hub ‘absurd’, says Labour

   

Shadow science minister blames planning system for reportedly slow progress on east London development

Labour’s shadow science minister, Chi Onwurah, has called delays to the development of a life sciences cluster in east London “absurd”.

In 2018 the Department for Health and Social Care bought land in Whitechapel to support the development of a life sciences cluster, with the intention of later reselling the sites with planning permission for life science buildings.
