Tories with key R&D roles to fight on at general election

Science minister Andrew Griffith will stand for re-election, as will his predecessor George Freeman

A host of Conservative MPs have announced that they will stand down at the coming election, but several key figures for R&D policy are planning to fight on.

With the Conservatives trailing Labour in the polls ahead of a general election now confirmed for 4 July, 75 of the party’s MPs have so far announced that they will not stand for re-election, according to the Conservative Home website.
