Liberal Democrats manifesto commits to supporting UK research and “joining” European Innovation Council

The Liberal Democrats have said they want to spend 3.5 per cent of the UK’s GDP on R&D by 2034. The party made the announcement in its manifesto, published today.

Current polls for the general election predict a Labour victory, but the Liberal Democrats are expected to gain many more seats than their current 15, giving them a louder voice in parliament.
